2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre.

A special exhibition ‘Peterloo’ will commemorate the people of Bolton who marched to St Peter’s Fields, Manchester on 16 August 1819, many of whom were injured when government troops and local yeomanry charged a crowd of around 60,000 people.

The issues that motivated these brave Boltonians to make the long march to Manchester included the right to vote and fairer representation in Parliament.
