Bolton Deaf Society
We are a not for profit charity, specifically providing a service to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Bolton and Greater Manchester areas.
Our services include a weekly meeting by the Darby & Joan club for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and dual sensory loss members, on Tuesday each week, between 11am and 3pm. Tuesday evenings our Sports and Social group meet from 7pm - 11pm. We have a darts and pool team that meet for matches on a regular basis. Once a month Royal Bolton audiology hold a clinic, for hearing aid repairs and battery supplies, which is on the fourth Tuesday, from 9.30 to 12 noon
We provide a coffee morning every Wednesday between 9.30am to 12 noon, where another of our resident groups, the Sign and Create group, do various art and craft activities.
The Deaf Society is also host to Network Circle for Deafness, an independent Advocacy charity group that provide support relating to a variety of issues, including benefit form completion for the Deaf. Communication support is provided by either staff, advocates or Deaf peer advocates.
From November 2016, we are opening our job club for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Our aim is to try and secure either work placements or volunteer placements for local Deaf people.
