CAMHS stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.  We are a service offering help for children and young people, usually between the ages of five and 18 who live in Bolton.

Referral details The core business of CAMHS is the specialist assessment and treatment of serious mental health disturbances and associated risks in children and young people from school entry up to their 18th birthday. Referrals are accepted from: GP's, School Nurse, Social Worker, Consultant Paediatrician, other CAMHS services. The service accepts referrals from the following agencies with accompanying information. Learning Disability Nursing, Educational Psychologist, Behavioural Support Team, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Allied Health Professionals. Accompanying information required: Specific entry requirements e.g. report including observation of functioning in class, Clear evidence of ineffective intervention (e.g. Triple P)
Special provisions Young people over 16 who are new referrals to CAMHS will be assessed and referred to the adult Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme or other clinically appropriate service.

- Outside of these hours children and young people requiring emergency assessment should be taken to Accident and Emergency Department at the Royal Bolton Hospital
